The 'Runcible Spoon' comes from Edward Lear's 'Owl and the Pussycat'. We embraced a quirky typographic style with an old fashioned spoon for the main identity, stamp-like in it's effect. This was partly inspired by the vintage of the original text, but also the location of the café in an old biscuit factory (where cookie cutters are incorporated into the architecture).
We developed a complete hand-drawn typeface and applied the brand in-store with vinyl cut lettering, stencilling and printed media.
Served up with an easily maintained website (info here) and you've got a complete brand that is as delicious as the food they serve...
Can you tell that this was serious play-time for us? (Don't tell the client!)
