rhythm

as tempting as the products look to place on order immediately, the introduction to rhythm design studies is very clear: they are not product designers.

this site is a blog by media designers investigating ideas of product design relevance.

(still, with such elegant products and a very appealing presentation... we'll see!)

quality of life is not a question of speed. it's a matter of rhythm.

flóra vági

incredibly beautiful jewellery made out of my favourite things... wood and paper. just. stunning.

judging from her impressive international representation, i'm assuming that the artist, flóra vági, has quite a bit of credibility for her sculptural jewellery. new to discovering her work... i find it a breath of fresh air.

...jewellery, which not only adorns, but 'talks' or sometimes 'whispers'...

print shop open!

i have just opened my shop!

i'm selling prints of my photographs. these are all images i have taken on adventures in the last several years.

i travel with antique, plastic, digital and film cameras to create interesting, graphic imagery
that come from a design point of view. images are taken with the idea of capturing emotion and memories... not just landmarks.

peruse here...

(i'll be adding etchings to the shop soon)

ok, now i(pad) get it

yup. done. i want one. this little video makes a whole lot of common sense to me!

nb. an obligatory ipad post to celebrate its local launch today... phew! relief! i've never seen so much build-up hype!

daily stack

daily stack is a playful tool that helps you become more aware of your daily work-flow and time management. by creating a physical representation of your tasks, daily stack speaks subtly to your conscience and helps you manage your time through unobtrusive ambient feedback.

fascinating concept and relevant: ascribing a visual/physical tool to organise your time... am assuming especially aimed at creative folks who work visually/physically. seems to be a concept stage but will be interesting to see this kind of product evolve.

milan… cordula kehrer

nicely articulated concept, bow bins by cordula kehrer.

Old plastic bins are recycled and get new again - holes are mended and plastic pieces are woven together with wicker, rattan and weed. Every bin is unique.

milan… marcel wanders

the sparkling chair by marcel wanders for magis is beautiful! simple, naive, elegant - an interesting combination of aesthetic ideas, i think.

The Sparkling Chair is made out of PET and produced using the same blow molding technique commonly used for bottles of water. After blow molding the legs and seat, the hollow space is filled with high pressure air which creates very strong and structural components.

milan… saved by droog

well unfortunately i'm not there to report in person but the next few posts are some bits i've collected on this year's salone del mobile in milan.

droog have saved 5135 items from liquidation sales and invited designers to reinterpret/revive them. my favourite is the maison martin margiela 'moustache protector'...

Care for some Victorian elegance with your cup of coffee? This cup addition was inspired by the original 19th century moustache guard invented by Englishman Harvey Adams. A call for the return of the moustache!
